Postmodernism and Readers

Postmodernism theory gives the reader a good deal more power than traditional notions of reader. What readers bring to a reading (in terms of experience and knowledge) has a great effect on the meaning making process. Rather than meaning being something buried in the text and expressed by an author, meaning is determined by the reader. The reader must therefore take responsibility making meaning.
