Author on the Web

The traditional notion of author is one of creation and authority, the voice of a work. In terms of argument, the author is typically thought of as the one responsible for creating the argument. In hypertext on the Web, however, these notions of author don't hold. Because of the nature of argumentation on the Web, the author's role changes significantly. No longer the singular voice of a text, the author on the Web must be acutely aware of her condition as another element in the meaning making process of the reader.
