Narrowing on the Web

It is possible to narrow one's focus in a hypertext to a certain subject matter, basically by entering threads of information. By following a particular thread, readers deal with a more focused set of ideas (in this case, we're dealing with the subject of starting points on the Web). However, since hypertext allows for associational movements, any narrowing can be instantly thwarted when a reader decides to jump to a node (either a node linked by the current author or a bookmarked node, etc.).
