How Much Control?
The author's responsibility is to provide information and a structure that allows readers to get the information they want, essentially giving over control to the reader. However, there are some practical difficulties in giving up that control. For instance, throughout this work, I've tried to give as much control as possible to readers by providing multiple types of indexes, links in various directions, and I've tried to anticipate where readers might want to go. But I also have a responsibility to help readers make sense of what I've written, which is why I've included arrows that suggest to readers where I would go. These arrows are not an attempt on my part to control the order in which readers encounters the nodes in this work as much as they are an attempt to suggest ways to go.
